Chris Wright (Baildon) Limited was formed in 1976

Chris Wright started by buying tippers and then progressed by adding Flat Vehicles, Crane Vehicles and finally a Low Loader. He went on to buying premises in Baildon. This was a purpose built transport depot which included a large warehouse space, service facilities and parking which enabled the Company to expand into the business we see today. As the Customer base grew, new offices, additional warehousing and workshops were added to the Business and as the fleet increased adjacent land was acquired.

In addition to our core haulage business we have developed and adapted systems to enable us to become an established specialist haulier capable of loading and installing boilers, generating sets, control panels, furnace ovens and all manner of heavy, complicated and sophisticated machinery.

This expertise has taken us to various countries including Western Europe, Southern Ireland and the Islands off the coast of Britain where we have been a key contractor in many prestigious developments.

Chris Wright (Baildon) Limited continues to build on its reputation as a professional, reliable and specialist haulier by keeping up to date with modern technology, training of staff, replacing vehicles and expanding and improving facilities.

Meet The Team

  • Chris Wright


    Chris founded the business and built the company up to what it is today and is responsible for the overall strategic direction and leadership of the business. He is known as very hands on and can often be found in the garage mucking in and passing on his knowledge to the younger generation.

  • John Morton

    Managing Director

    John has worked in the transport industry since leaving school. He joined Chris Wright (Baildon) in 2005 as Transport Manager and became Managing Director in 2008.

  • David Patchett


    David has worked for Chris Wright (Baildon) for more than 30 years, he joined as company accountant and now he is a Director of the business. His main responsibilities are planning and quoting specialist projects in the UK and Europe. He also covers crane hire, installations, abnormal loads and Health and Safety.

  • Nigel Roberts


    Nigel joined the company straight from school more than 30 years ago as an apprentice. He has risen to be a director with special responsibility’s for installation and technical aspects of the business. Three generations of his family have worked for the company, his father now retired and his son who joined in 2015.

  • Martin Barrett

    Transport Manager

    Martin has over 30 years’ experience in the transport and plant industry, with extensive knowledge of customer requirements in the heavy haulage industry.

  • Scott Ashdown

    Operations Manager

    Scott joined Chris Wright (Baildon) in 2013, Scott’s main responsibilities encompass assisting in the day to day running of the transport department as well as the planning and coordinating of abnormal load haulage movements to ensure products meet their destination safely and on time. He is also in charge of the fleet servicing and repairs.

  • Jill Charlton

    Office Manager

    Jill joined Chris Wright in 2003. Jill covers Payroll, Bookkeeping, Purchase Ledger and the General Office. She progressed to her current position in 2010. The “Go to Person” for anything – other than Transport!.

  • Glenn Tanner

    Management Accountant

    Glenn joined Chris Wright (Baildon) in 2011 and is currently studying towards the Association of Accounting Technicians qualification. Glenn’s main responsibilities are the sales ledger and credit control.

  • Peter Goldsmith

    Garage Manager

    Peter started at Chris Wright (Baildon) ltd in 2008 as an apprentice he moved up the ranks and now he is the garage manager.
